New Delhi : The government on Friday said the demands of ticket-checking staff of the Indian Railways will be considered and the workforce will be better equipped to handle passengers.
Minister of State (MoS) for Railways Manoj Sinha said: “Each and every demand of the ticket-checking (TCs) staff will be taken as seriously as the demands of soldiers of Indian Army.”
An official statement here cited the minister as having said that arrangements will be made to train TCs in how to behave with the travellers.
Sinha, who was speaking at the two-day national conference here of the ‘All India Ticket Checking Staff’, appealed to the TC staff to improve the image of the railways.
The minister was referring to the demands put forth by the ‘Uttariya Railway Mazdoor Union’ of improving rest room arrangements, promotions on the basis of performance and to include TCs in the ‘running category’ staff.
