Thiruvananthapuram : CISSIL Retail Management Pvt. Ltd., set up by a group of Kerala-based entrepreneurs, will open 1,000 shops – one in every village council – and will create 30,000 jobs, it was announced here on Sunday.
Named as “Ente Kada” (my shop), this new concept is aimed at bringing a retail revolution in Kerala by creating shelf space for locally manufactured and traditional products at reasonable pricing.
“CISSIL envisages penetration of organised retail by opening ‘Small Smart Superstores’ in all village councils in Kerala by August 2015,” B. Saharsh, executive director of CISSIL, told reporters.
“We want to align this concept with the prime minister’s ‘Make in India’ drive and provide an opportunity for local manufacturers to market and sell their products at par with the FMCG (Fast-moving consumer goods) of multi-national companies,” he said.
“Currently, we have listed over 10,000 local manufacturers and distributors in the state,” said Raju Pallikara, a director at CISSIL.
