Sensex tanks 327 points after Bihar poll verdict

Mumbai: A day after the BJP-led NDA was defeated in Bihar assembly polls, a benchmark index of Indian equities markets, the 30-scrip Sensitive Index (Sensex), on Monday tanked 327.59 points or 1.25 percent during the noon session.

The wider 50-scrip Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) was trading 99.20 points or 1.25 percent down at 7,855.10 points.The Sensex of the S&P Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 25,809 points, was trading at 25,937.65 points (at 12.05 p.m.) in the early session, down 327.59 points or 1.25 percent from the previous day’s close at 26,265.24 points during the noon session.

The Sensex touched a high of 26,007.44 points and a low of 25,656.90 points in the trade so far.

Heavy selling pressure was seen in realty, healthcare and power sectors.
