Don’t think I have no base, Shatrughan tells BJP

Patna: BJP Lok Sabha member Shatrughan Sinha on Thursday warned party leaders not to treat him like a Rajya Sabha MP who has no support base.

“I am not a Rajya Sabha MP. I’ve come through the support of the masses and (have) won two Lok Sabha elections with record margin. I have a support base,” Sinha tweeted.

The Bollywood veteran’s comment came after some party leaders demanded action against him for speaking against the leadership of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) during and after the Bihar assembly elections.

“Nonetheless, now that the verdict is out and we’re saddened by this humiliating defeat, we should not run away from fixing responsibility,” he said.

Sinha said that despite his sincerity, efforts and intention, he was kept away from campaigning in the elections.

“My friends, voters and supporters were let down.”

Sinha clarified that he never wanted to be the chief minister of Bihar, but insisted that the election result would have been different if he had been allowed to campaign in the battle which the BJP lost badly.

Sinha reiterated that he had not worked against the BJP in any way.
