Mushawarat delved on the prevailing situation in the country and took notice, in particular, of the growing fascism and communalism.

New Delhi: The Working Committee (Majlis-e Amla) of the All India Muslim Majlis-e Mushawarat (AIMMM), the apex body of Indian Muslim organisations, met here on Saturday, October 3 at the AIMMM’s central office. Members of the working committee as well as some general body members living in and around Delhi participated in the meeting chaired by the AIMMM president Dr Zafarul-Islam Khan.
Participants included Mujtaba Farooq, Vice President, Prof. Mohammad Sulaiman, Mufti Ataur Rahman Qasmi and Masoom Moradabadi, General Secretaries, Syed Shahabuddin, Gp. Capt. (retd) M. Anwar, Sikandar Hayat Khan, Mohammad Adeeb, ex-MP, Anees Durrani, Dr. Javed Jameel, Syed Samar Hamid, Amanullah Khan, Syyed Mansoor Agha, SMY Nadeem, Dr. Basir Ahmad Khan, Rahat Mahmood Chaudhary, Mohammad Ilyas Malik, Dr. Anwarul Islam Khan, Mohammad Ahmad, A. R. Agwan, Prof. Shakeel Ahmad, Navaid Hamid, Shaikh Manzoor Ahmad, Dr. Masood Ahamd, Shah Faisal, Dr. Syed Ahmad Khan, Khawja M. Shahid (VC, MAANU) and Maulana Junaid Ahmad Banarasi. Shamail Nabi (President, AIMMM Bihar state unit) and Mohammad Khalid (Lucknow) participated as special invitees.
The AIMMM discussed organisational, milli, national and international issues. Members expressed their satisfaction with the arrangements for and results achieved by the AIMMM golden jubilee held at the end of last month and inaugurated by the Vice President of India, M. Hamid Ansari. They expressed their happiness that the golden jubilee and the Vice President of India’s address have started a discussion all over the country about AIMMM and the issues of the Muslim community. The meeting discussed arrangements for the next elections of AIMMM, the situation prevailing in the country and took notice, in particular, of the growing fascism and communalism.
A number of resolutions were passed by the working committee on national and international issues affecting the Muslim community. AIMMM took notice of the growing communalism, politics in the name beef and meat, attacks on innocent people’s lives and properties, saffronisation of history and textbooks. AIMMM said the BJP government’s decision to offer citizenship and visa relaxations to “non-Muslims”, i.e., Hindus, from Pakistan and Bangladesh is a violation of India’s secularism and demanded that if Hindus in Pakistan and Bangladesh are facing any problem, it should be addressed in the framework of Nehru-Liaqat Pact which gives each country the right to intervene if minorities are threatened in the other country.
The AIMMM working committee rejected the claims that ISIS is making inroads into India or that Indian Muslim youth are taking interest in ISIS ideology and said that these reports are highly exaggerated and lack any credible evidence. AIMMM said that it believes that ground is being readied for a new wave of arrests of Muslim youth in the name of “ISIS” now that “IM” myth has met it own natural death.
On Bihar elections, AIMMM said these elections are very crucial for the future of democracy and secularism in our country and advised voters that every effort should be made to ensure the success of secular and clean-image candidates.
Another resolution observed that the meat politics has taken a new and ugly turn since BJP came to power at the Centre and now the whole bovine family is being banned and all meat is being banned on certain days and in certain areas. AIMMM observed that there should be freedom to everyone to eat the food of his choice. Demanding punishment to the killers of Akhlaq in a Dadri village, AIMMM also demanded the suspension of the Dadri SDM who has threatened Akhlaq’s family and ordered it not to speak against BJP. The AIMMM also demanded the dismissal of the Union culture minister who has described Akhlaq’s lynching as a mere “accident”.
Another resolution expressed anguish over the murder of at least 12 persons, including a young child, in recent months by mysterious killers in the Kashmir valley, especially in and around Sopore. The resolution said that these mysterious murders are an implementation of the policy announced by the Union defence minister that he will use terrorists to kill terrorists.
Another resolution demanded the prosecution of army and police officers responsible for the murders of Kashmiri civilians and the removal of the black AFPSA and PSA from Kashmir.
The AIMMM also took note of the attempts of J&K government to dislodge lakhs of Muslim Gujjars and Bakerwals who have been traditionally living in forest areas since ages and demanded the application of the Forest Rights Act of 2006, which protects forest-dwellers and develops their areas, to the J&K which remains the only state in India where this law is not applied.
AIMMM observed that over a year has passed on the horrible floods which affected hundreds of thousands of people in the Valley of Kashmir. Central and state governments have so far only dished out promises and laughable amounts as “compensation” to tens of thousands of affected people who lost their houses and shops. AIMMM exhorted both the state and Central governments to hasten to help the hapless victims to rebuild/repair their houses and shops in order to start a new life.
AIMMM condemned the continuing attacks on Dalits and Adivasis which have increased since the Modi government took charge. It mentioned the Dalits of Bhagana in BJP-ruled Haryana who are so much persecuted that they are sitting in protest since months at the Jantar Mantar in Delhi against the injustices meted out by upper caste people.
AIMMM rejected the propaganda about the increase in Muslim population and said that the fact is that the decadal Muslim rate of population growth has come down from 29 percent in 2001 to 24 percent in 2011. The “facts” released by Modi government fail to take into account that some previous censuses did not take place in J&K and Assam and that the 1952 census was cooked up. AIMMM said that the reason behind the supposed Hindu decline is due to the female feticide and infanticide rampant in Hindu society.
AIMMM asked the Government of India and the Archeological Survey of India to allow regular prayers in all “protected” mosques which are now crumbling and used by criminals and anti-socials as well as for living, warehousing and trade. Denial of prayers in mosques is a grave injustice to the Muslim community, especially when prayers are not barred in historical places of worship of other religions. Regular prayers will ensure cleanliness as well as timely repairs by the Muslim community.
AIMMM lauded industrialist Azim Premji’s path-breaking act of setting aside 18 percent of his stake in Wipro for charity and encouraged Muslim industrialists and businessmen to follow suit.
AIMMM welcomed Jamaat-e Islami Hind’s communal harmony drive and asked all Muslim organisations to work for the betterment of relations and to enhance contacts with other communities, especially Hindus who are being misled by hatemongers of Hindutva forces through lies and distortion of history. AIMMM observed that better Hindu-Muslim relations and understanding is the antidote of the Hindutva venom.
AIMMM lauded and supported the initiative of the Shia organisation, Shoulder2Shoulder to organise joint congregational prayers of the followers of the Shia and Sunni sects. This initiative started in Delhi last July with AIMMM support when Eidul Fitr was prayed together at the Jamia Millia mosque. Now, joint Eidul Azha prayers were performed in Lucknow’s historic Sibtainabad Imambara. AIMMM supports such initiatives and calls for more social interaction between the Shia and Sunnis of India as an appropriate response to the purveyors of hate at home and abroad.
AIMMM said about the attempts to free Hindutva terrorists now in jails and said that since the advent of Modi government, attempts are continuing to acquit Hindutva terrorists or at least release them on bail despite their committing umpteen terror attacks like Samjhauta Train, Malegaon, Ajmer Dargah and Makkah Masjid blasts. Special Prosecutor Rohini Salian has exposed the official pressure on her to go soft on Hindutva terrorists. AIMMM resolution said that convicts and accused in Gujarat pogrom of 2002 and umpteen fake encounters in Gujarat are being freed and even reinstated in their posts and criminals like Kodnani and Babu Bajrangi are out on bail. AIMMM said that this sends a wrong message, encourages criminals and demonstrates that Modi govt is hand-in-glove with terrorists and criminals of the Sangh Parivar. AIMMM observed that this line of BJP became clear at the way Jhabua blasts of 12 September were handled where the main accused is a BJP leader. But, instead of booking him under UAPA, he is facing charges of only illegal storage and trading in explosive materials. AIMMM demanded ban on all Hindutva terror organizations like Sanatan Sanstha, Hindu Yuva Vahini, Bajrang Dal etc.
AIMMM said in another resolution on the impending Israel visits of the President and Prime Minister that it is against the age-old Indian policy of supporting the wronged and occupied Palestinian people. The resolution condemned the growing Indo-Israel ties in the field of security and purchase of Israeli arms and defence services despite the continuing Israeli atrocities in the occupied Palestinian territories, Gaza Strip blockade and daily attempts to occupy the holy Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem and Israel’s continued occupation of Palestine and parts of the Syrian Golan Heights disregarding hundreds of UN resolutions. The resolution condemned the Israeli attempts to occupy the holy Aqsa mosque and warned that this may lead to a third Intifadah which will affect not only the occupied territories but the whole Middle East and Muslim World. The AIMMM said Israel is a danger to world peace and the forces supporting this artificial entity, especially the US, are entirely responsible for its blatant violations of international law and common decency.
A resolution about the refugees problem said that it is a direct result of the American and European policies in the Middle East. Millions of Afghan refugees still live in Pakistan and Iran, while millions of Iraqi and Syrian refugees are camping in neighbouring countries. They fled their homelands due to the American scheme to reshape the Middle East. Refugees became a “problem” only when they spilled over into Europe. AIMMM asked western powers to stop meddling in the Middle East and pave the way for the safe return of the refugees to their homelands.
In a resolution about Syria, AIMMM said that this embattled country is now witnessing further escalation as a result of the Russian armed intervention to save the crumbling Assad regime. AIMMM said it supports Geneva I formula for a peaceful and democratic transition in Syria. A democratic and truly popular government will be able to deal with the terrorist monsters like ISIS and Al-Qaeda which are creations of American and Israeli intelligence agencies.
A resolution on Yemen said foreign intervention in Yemen has complicated the tribal warfare in that unfortunate country. AIMMM called upon all parties to stop blood-letting, give peace a chance by accepting the UN mediator’s plan for a democratic change in that country through free and fair elections without foreign intervention by any side.
