Police sources said the squad had gone to the village after receiving intelligence reports that Apu Qasim, the mastermind of the August 5 Udhampur terror attack, was hiding in the village.

“Sub-Inspector Altaf Ahmad has been injured in the attack. Arrangements are being made to airlift the injured officer to Srinagar for treatment,” the officer said.

“Reinforcements have been rushed to the spot to ensure that the militants responsible for the attack are prevented from escaping.”
