Struggle for justice for Aler Encounter moves to Delhi

Hyderabad: The struggle for the justice for victims of Aler encounter killings moves to Delhi. National Confederation of Human Rights Organisations (NCHRO) will be conducting the Press Conference at Indian Women’s Press Corps (IWPC), New Delhi on Friday October 23 and the Protest March in front of the Andhra Bhawan on Saturday October 24.

On April 7, 2015 five Muslim undertrials were killed by the state police. Police claimed that undertrials were planning to escape and that’s why they were shot but photos released of the incident clearly showed that police story of the incident was not credible.

NCHRO, the umbrella body of human rights forums and civil rights activists has been conducting the series of agitations for the past six months in this issue.

The move is to demand CBI Probe and compensation to the victims’ Family and to lodge Criminal Case under Section 302 IPC against the police involved.

NCHRO has already conducted a fact finding inquiry and the press conference led by the Chair-person of NCHRO Prof. A. Marx and sent the Fact Finding Report to the higher officials including the Prime Minister of India.

Subsequently, a petition was forwarded by the PMO to the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on 9.5.2015 for further action. After receiving the petition, the Human Rights Division of the MHA issued notice to the Chief Secretary of Telangana and the National Human Rights Commission. But both of them not yet replied.

NCHRO also conducted a protest at Nizamabad on 26th June 2015, on the eve of International Anti-Torture Day seeking justice to the victims’ family

As the continuation of the agitation, NCHRO has decided to conduct a Press Conference at Indian Women’s Press Corps (IWPC), Ashoka Road, New Delhi on October 23, 2015 (Friday) between 3.30 pm and 5.00 pm and will conduct a Protest March in front of the Andhra Bhawan at Delhi on October 24, 2015, Saturday by 11 am demanding CBI Probe, compensation to the Victims’ Family and to lodge the Criminal Case u/s 302 IPC against the police involved in the Custodial Murder of Five Muslim Under Trials at Aler on 7th April 2015 (Aler Encounter).

Family members of the deceased Muslim youths will participate in the Delhi Press Conference and the Andhra Bhawan March. NCHRO Office bearers, prominent activists, leaders of social organizations and political parties will be also addressing.
