New Delhi: The union urban development ministry has approved plans entailing expenditure of Rs.2,786.28 crore for 89 cities in Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat and Rajasthan under the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT), an official release said on Thursday.
It said an inter-ministerial apex committee of AMRUT cleared the first batch of state-level action plans under AMRUT aimed at providing water and sewerage connections to urban households.
The approved plans pertain to 143 projects in the 89 AMRUT cities in three states, including 47 schemes related to augmentation of water supply and 31 projects for expanding sewerage network in identified cities and towns. The rest pertain to storm water drains, urban transport and green spaces and parks.
Sewerage projects have been allocated Rs.1,471.07 crore, followed by Rs.1,225 crore for water supply related schemes.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had launched AMRUT in June along with two other schemes aimed at urban transformation.
