Follow Ambedkar’s ideals, says UP governor

Agra: Uttar Pradesh Governor Ram Naik on Wednesday asked students to follow the ideals and values of Bharat Ratna Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar.

The students should also focus on character-building, speak the truth, follow religion and respect their parents and teachers, Naik said in his address at the 81st convocation of Dr B.R. Ambedkar University here.

The university conferred three D.Lit, 130 M.Phil and 409 Ph.D degrees as well as 91 gold medals, 14 silver and 105 other medals to meritorious students.

National Assessment and Accreditation Council director Prof Dhirendra Pal Singh, who was the chief guest, said the younger generation should prepare itself for future challenges and work for the welfare and progress of the nation.

“Students must become skilled, competent and committed to principles. Human values should inspire their personality and social behaviour,” he added.

University vice chancellor Prof Mohammed Muzammil said with more than 700 affiliated colleges, it was constantly endeavouring to cope with changing times.
