Guwahati: Flood situation in Assam further deteriorated with 19 of the 32 districts of the state reeling under water. People in different places taking shelter in make-shift relief camps have complained of not having sufficient support from the state government.
The children have become highly vulnerable to diseases. Mothers’ have complained of not having sufficient number of baby foods and shelter materials.
TwoCircles.net visited several places in Morigaon districts including Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary and other villages. Rahima Begum of Burha-Burhi village who has been on the relief camps said that she is concerned for her eight month baby.
“We can adjust with the situations as we have faced similar kind of troubles earlier. But we don’t get proper baby foods for the kids. We appeal to the district administration officials to kindly look into the matter,” said Rahima Begum.
As on Wednesday, 19 districts have been submerged by the flood water which has affected around 10 lakh population of the state.
