New Delhi: Services on the Badarpur-Faridabad metro corridor will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday at 4 p.m.
“The peak hour (8-11 am and 5-8 pm) frequency of trains on this section will be six minutes 40 seconds while during the non-peak hours, the frequency will be seven minutes 30 seconds,” said Anuj Dayal, executive director of corporate communications, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation.
About 1.95 lakh passengers are expected to use this new corridor every day by the end of the year
The Rs.2,900 crore project, an extension of the currently operational violet line between ITO and Badarpur (Haryana) will have nine stations – Sarai, NHPC Chowk, Mewala Maharajpur, Sector 28, Badkal Mor, Old Faridabad, Neelam Chowk Ajronda, Bata Chowk and Escorts Mujesar.
Two more stations, NCB Colony and Ballabhgarh, will be added to this line by 2017, that will increase the length of the line by 3.2 km. The depot for this section has been constructed near Sector 20A in Faridabad and has been named Ajronda Depot.
