The loss of crops is also major cause of worry for the state, as more than 1.45 hectres of crops are still under water. As on Saturday, 39 people have already lost their lives during last two weeks.

Villagers who took shelter in the relief camps have alleged that there is no proper facility.

“The officials from the district administration who visited the place hardly gave us importance. They just tried to avoid us. Whatever was given to us is not just sufficient,” said Habibur Rahman of Maguwabill Pathar under Goroimari revenue circle in Kamrup district.

Rahman who is engaged in animal husbandry is in fear of a dark future. “Life is getting difficult with aging parents and two young children. We are just praying so that the flood is over at the earliest,” he told TwoCircles.net.

Meanwhile, the blame game has started between the Congress Government in the state and the BJP led government at the centre.

Assam government has slammed the centre for not clearing the funds to address the emergency period during the natural calamities.

“The state government wishes to clarify that the central funds of Rs 207 crore released to the state government by the centre this year, is merely the first instalment of the current year’s central allocation of Rs 414 crore available under State Disaster Response Funds. After the first instalment of SDRF released in May 2015, no funds either under SDRF or under the Special package, have been released to the State Government to mitigate the impact of severe floods in Assam during the current financial year till now,” said an official statement of the state government to counter the union minister for sports Sarbananda Sonowal who claimed of releasing funds by the centre.

Char Chapori Sahitya Parishad (CCSP), a literary body of the state has also alleged that some political parties were more focused on their calculation than to help the needy.

“It’s very pathetic. I don’t want to name here but the situation is pathetic beyond imagination. I would like to appeal all the NGOs, organizations and people in general to come forward and help the needy,” said Hafiz Ahmed, president of CCSP.

Some NGOs which have been trying to coordinate in assisting the victims have also alleged the indifferent attitude of the district administration.
