RSS controlling, dictating Modi government, says Yechury

Kolkata: Charging Prime Minister Narendra Modi with handing over his government’s control to the RSS, CPI-M general secretary Sitaram Yechury on Sunday said the right wing organisation dictated terms and set the agenda.

“Modi has proved that RSS not only has the remote control, but the actual control of his government. RSS is dictating terms to the Modi government and preparing its agenda,” Yechury said here referring to the recent three-day BJP-RSS coordination meet held in the national capital.

Addressing the birth centenary celebration of former party general secretary Harkishan Singh Surjeet here, Yechury said an Emergency-like situation prevailed in the country under the current regime.

“The RSS has given a certificate of good work to Modi government. But the good work actually means the poison of communalism is spreading across the country and is evident in every sector.

“They have given a mandate for saffornisation of education… attempts are being made to rewrite history. They welcome Hindu Bangladeshis but if Muslims enter the country, they call them infiltrators.

“Riot is not the only way thorough which communalism spreads,” said the Marxist leader.

“They have created an Emergency-like situation. They are changing the laws of a secular democratic republic which is a big threat to the unity and integrity of the nation,” alleged Yechury.

Taking a jibe at the “Make in India” campaign, he claimed the country attracted far less FDI than it had under the Congress-led UPA regime. He also slammed the government over the lack of industrial growth and rise in farmer suicides.

Yechury also attacked the West Bengal’s ruling Trinamool Congress, alleging it has entered into “match-fixing” with the Bharatiya Janata Party.

“The Trinamool and BJP have entered into match fixing. If the BJP needs Trinamool’s support for its anti-people bills in parliament, the Trinamool needs the BJP to escape the CBI probe in the Saradha scam. It’s a marriage of convenience,” said Yechury describing the Mamata Banerjee regime as a “government of corruption”.
