Reddy got 131 votes to BJP’s Manjunath Raju’s 128 votes in votes for Mayor in which Karnataka MPs, MLAs, and MLCs also are allowed to vote.

Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) corporator Mujahid Pasha also vote for Congress’s Reddy. Pasha was apparently rewarded for his crucial vote by being made Chairman of the Health Standing Committee.

Indian Social Forum(ISF), an organization of Indian Muslims in Saudi Arabia thanked Pasha for playing an important role in keeping the communal party (BJP) out of power in Bangalore.

Sharief Addur, President of Indian Social Forum, Karnataka State said that “Social Democratic Party of India set a new milestone with this victory and established a hope in Indian Politics. In the recent BBMP Election SDPI party has bagged third highest votes in the contested wards. It is a good development that SDPI which is a national-level party has reached the level of challenging the other major National Parties. This achievement is due to the hard efforts of the selfless activists. SDPI has bagged 71 seats is the recently held Gram Panchayat Elections and lost some of the seats with a narrow margin in BBMP elections.”
