AMU suspends classes after a student is gunned down

Aligarh: Alamgir, a final year student of Bachelor of Social Work was killed on Friday by unidentified gunmen outside the campus. Two youth on a bike reportedly fired five shots on Alamgir when he was standing with his friends at Purani Chungi area of Aligarh on Friday evening.

Alamgir was rushed to the Medical College Hospital where he was pronounced dead around 10:30pm.

Police from various thanas of the town rushed to the hospital which made already assembled students angry. Vice Chancellor Zameeruddin Shah visited the hospital and talked to the students.

University has decided to suspend all undergraduate and postgraduate classes on Saturday September 19th. All pre-scheduled examinations, however, will be organized as per the programme and also schools run by the University will hold classes.
