Ranchi : Curfew was relaxed for two hours on Tuesday in the communal violence-hit Hazaribagh district of Jharkhand, police said.
The curfew was relaxed from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. The curfew will continue and the district administration will review the situation on Wednesday and decide on lifting of the curfew, officials said.
Police said more than 20 people have been detained as a precautionary measure. Some people involved in the violence have also been identified.
Curfew was imposed on Sunday night after violence over Ram Navami processions escalated. In Hazaribagh, four people have died in the violence.
The violence began when a Ram Navami procession was stopped and the loudspeaker use was objected by other community members. It led to clashes between two groups in which several people, including policemen, were injured.
Over a dozen shops and several vehicles were set ablaze by the mobs. On Sunday, one person participating in the procession was killed.
According to police, the situation was now under control.
