NALSA to organise workshop on rehabilitation of missing children

New Delhi : The National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) in association with the Delhi State Legal Services Authority (DSLSA) and Bachpan Bachao Andolan (BBA) is organising a national workshop on rehabilitation of missing and trafficked children on August 22 and August 23, an official said on Saturday.

“With a view to establish appropriate mechanisms for the rehabilitation and repatriation of children and to ensure the mainstreaming of child survivors into a safe and productive life, the consultation will focus on the status and challenges in the repatriation and rehabilitation of tracked and missing children within the larger scope of child protection and crime against children,” an official of NALSA said.

Chief Justice of India and NALSA’s Patron-in-Chief Justice T.S. Thakur will inaugurate the workshop in the presence of Supreme Court Justice Anil R.Dave, Delhi High Court’s Chief Justice G. Rohini and Nobel Peace laureate Kailash Satyarthi.

In 2009, NALSA established the All India Legal Aid Cell on child rights in collaboration with the DSLSA and BBA.

The objective of the cell is to realise equality and justice to children, a sine qua non for creation of a child friendly society where every child has access to physical, social, psychological, moral and spiritual development.

In furtherance of its objective, NALSA had also formulated the NALSA’s Child Friendly Legal Services to Children and their Protection Scheme, 2015.
