New Delhi : The government on Monday appointed B.S. Bhullar as chief of the country’s civil aviation regulator — Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).
According to the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, the 1986 batch officer of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) of the Uttar Pradesh cadre will head the DGCA.
“The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the following appointments: B.S. Bhullar, IAS (UP 86), Additional Secretary, Ministry of Civil Aviation as Director General, Civil Aviation, in the rank and pay of Additional Secretary, by keeping the RRs (recruitment rules) for the post in abeyance,” the ministry said in a statement.
The post was vacant since July 2016, when M.Sathiyavathy, the then chief of the aviation regulator, was appointed the Union Labour Secretary.
Bhullar was given the additional charge of the DGCA in July.
