Kejriwal did nothing for unauthorised colonies: BJP leader

New Delhi : BJP’s Delhi unit President Manoj Tiwari on Monday accused Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal of not fulfilling his poll promise of regularising unauthorised colonies here and said it is a matter of “shame”.

“It is shameful that the Kejriwal government, which came to power due to strong support of residents of unauthorised colonies, has not done anything for them till date. No work has been done to regularise these unauthorised colonies since approved by the Centre,” the Bharatiya Janata Party leader said at a ‘Dehat Samvaad’ (rural dialogue) in Dhansa village in Najafagarh area in outer Delhi.

The event was attended by thousands of villagers led by heads of 360 villages.

Tiwari said his party will develop Delhi into a cosmopolitan city as desired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The BJP’s Lok Sabha member from from Northeast Delhi constituency assured the Delhi farmers that the issue of crop loss claims of 2015 and 2016 would be raised with the related government departments.

“We shall seek the intervention of Lt. Governor Najeeb Jung in the matter of agricultural power tariff hike,” Tiwari said.

Tiwari, who was appointed the new chief of the Delhi BJP on November 30, said the November 8 demonetisation was causing problems at present but ultimately farmers and labourers would be its biggest beneficiaries.

“At present, farmers are paid in cash. They are often paid less than the minimum government rates. But when payments will be made through banks, it would ensure proper prices,” he said.

Tewari said his office will soon have separate dedicated sections to deal with the issues of unauthorised colonies and villages in the national capital.
