Samajwadi Party president Mulayam Singh Yadav declared the list of candidates for 325 seats in Lucknow on Wednesday. The state’s CM Akhilesh Yadav was not present as he was in Jhansi addressing a meeting.
It is clear from the list that the Shivpal Yadav had a upper hand in ticket distribution over his nephew Akhilesh.
Many Akhilesh supporters have been denied ticket, including minister Pawan Pandey from Ayodhya, Ramgovind Choudhary from Baansdeeh and Arvind Singh Gope from Ramnagar.
Main leaders who got the ticket include Atiq Ahmed from Kanpur Cantt, Sibgatullah Ansari from Mohammadabad, BJP turncoat Vijay Bahadur Yadav from Gorakhpur Rural, BSP leader Naseemuddin Siddiqui’s brother Hasnuddin Siddiqui from Banda, Nashi Khan from Patiyali, Mulayam’s daughter in Aparna Yadav from Lucknow Cantt and Azam Khan’s son Abdullah Azam from Swaar.
The ministers who were sacked by Akhilesh—Om Prakash Singh from Zamania, Syeda Shadab Fatima from Zahoorabad, Narad Rai from ballia Nagar and Raj Kishore Singh from Haraiyyah have been again given ticket. Rajkishore’s brother Brijkishore has been given ticket from Rudhauli in Basti. Shivpal loyalist Sangeeta Yadav from Badlapur has been given ticket. Peace Party MLA Kamal Yousuf has been given ticket from Duramriyaganj.
Sitting MLA Ramgopal Rawat (Zaidpur), Rakesh Singh (Charra), Ram Singh (Patti), Baba Dubey (Badlapur), Azeem Pahelwan (Tanda), Arun Verma (Sultanpur Sadar), Abid Raza (Badaun), Jagram Paswan from Balrampur have also been denied tickets.
Akhilesh’s name is not in the list, while Shivpal Yadav has been fielded from Jaswant Nagar.
