Kolkata : Union minister Babul Supriyo on Friday accused former West Bengal chief secretary Sanjay Mitra of creating hurdles in his efforts to carry out development works in the state.
In a series of tweets, the Bharatiya Janata Party MP from Asansol, described Mitra — who on Monday was appointed as the road transport and highways secretary by the Centre — as a “cadre” of the state’s ruling Trinamool Congress.
“In West Bengal, the man who was the biggest road-block between development and me was the now ex-chief secretary Mr. Sanjay Mitra.
“Mitra was single-handedly responsible for making sure Bengal state officials do not cooperate with me. He was a Trinamool cadre in an IAS post,” tweeted Supriyo.
Wishing him on his appointment as the new road transport and highways secretary, Supriyo, who is minister of state for urban development, said Mitra will be “made to walk an extra mile to ensure that every mile of highway in West Bengal is completed with super-speed”.
