Srinagar : Director of School Education in Kashmir and 2010 civil services topper Shah Faesal thrashed Indian media on Friday, calling it a “sadistic propaganda machine” after certain news channels ran images of Shah Faesal in comparison with Burhan Wani, the Hizbul militant who was killed by security forces last week.

In a Facebook status he wrote, “At a moment when Kashmir is mourning its dead, the propaganda and provocation being dished out from red and blue newsrooms is breeding more alienation and anger in Kashmir than what Indian state can manage.”

The post, which was written only on Friday, because of the inaccessibility of internet the valley, he said, “Have I joined IAS to do a job or to become a part of your sadistic propaganda machine?”

Moreover Shah has also threatened to resign if this “nonsense” around him continues. He said, “when I qualified this exam I never thought of spending my whole life scratching the desk and if this nonsense around me continues, I might prefer to resign sooner than later.”

His response echoes emotions expressed by several Kashmiri residents, who have shown their anger towards the propagandist behavior of certain Indian media outlets. They accuse Indian media of objectifying every Kashmiri resident as terrorist, even as the media has kept mum over the role of security forces in the Valley.

Shah Faesal also named certain media houses in his Facebook post. “ZeeNews Aaj Tak TimesNow and NewsX are not going to tell you the truth about Kashmir.” wrote Shah.

A number of media houses in the country have, in the past few days, juxtaposed Shah’s achievements with that of the “slained” militant commander Burhan Wani. The comparison was running all over the social media as Indian users constantly trying to set an ‘example’ for Kashmiri youth.
