Kozhikode: Four Muslim students feature in the top 10 list of Kerala Medical Entrance Examinations results jointly announced by the Minister for Education C Raveendranath and Minister for Health K K Shylaja in Thiruvananathapuram on Wednesday. With 960 marks, Munavvar VV from Baithussalam in Koyyode, Kannur district bagged the first rank, while Rameesa Jahan MP, Asif Aban K and Nihala A got the fourth, seventh and tenth rank respectively.
A total of 1,04,787 lakh students cleared the exams.
Munavvar told Twocircles.net that while he had expected a good rank, standing first in the exams nevertheless came as surprise. Munavvar, the son of Mohammed Kutty PP and Nadeera VV, joined Brilliant Study Centre at Pala in Kottayam for entrance coaching after class 12 and topped the exams in his second attempt. The youngster said he would become a good doctor with ardent dedication and commitment to the society.
Interestingly, the other three students, Rameesa Jahan, Asif Aban and Nihala A, are all residents of Mallapuram.
Rameesa, who got the fourth rank, is the daughter of Abdul Kareem, a taxi driver, and housewife Rasiyanath. She attended coaching classes at Universal Institute, Kottakal, while Asif and Nihala cleared their exams after being coached at Science Institute, Manjeri. While Asif cleared the exams in his first attempt, Nihala cleared the exams in her second attempt.
Asif has decided to follow in the footsteps of his father Dr. Ibrahim, who is presently practicing at District Cooperative Hospital in Malappuram. If things go as per plan, Asif along with Rameesa and Nihala will also join MBBS at Kozhikode Government Medical College.
Nihala A is the daughter of Nizar Ali, an expatriate, and Fathimath Suhara, a housewife, from Mullampra in Manjeri.
