ABVP seeks Delhi Police action in JNU campus incident

New Delhi : An Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) delegation on Wednesday submitted a memorandum to Delhi Police Commissioner Alok Kumar Verma demanding action against those involved in shouting anti-national slogans on the JNU campus here on February 9.

The memorandum, signed by Saurabh Sharma, Jawaharlal Nehru University Students Union Joint Secretary and ABVP member, put forth the student body’s demands such as the arrest of all those involved in the incident and prompt investigation and filing of charge sheet in a time-bound manner.

“We demand that the people who provided sanctuary to these accused must also be prosecuted and arrests made,” the memorandum said.

The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh-affiliated student body had earlier in the day protested in front of the Delhi Police headquarters here.

Apart from Sharma, the protest was led by Delhi University Students Union President Satender Awana and ABVP national media coordinator Saket Bahuguna.
