Kolkata : West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday directed the health department to further improve the quality and range of healthcare in state-run medical colleges and hospitals.
The Trinamool Congress supremo reviewed the activities of the health department on Wednesday with special reference to patient care services.
Banerjee has laid stress on improving patient amenities like provision of drinking water, closer monitoring and supervision at all levels, facelift of hospitals and setting up effective patient grievance redressal mechanism, an official statement said.
The review highlighted that institutional delivery had gone up from 67 per cent in 2010-11 to 87.4 per cent in 2015-16, coverage of fully immunised children has gone up to 91 per cent in 2015-16 and maternal mortality rate has reduced from 141 per 100,000 live births in 2010
