New Delhi : Delhi Police has arrested the mastermind of the Karkardooma court shootout case in which a constable was killed when four armed men opened fire at a member of a rival gang inside a courtroom, an official said on Thursday.
Mohammed Jamal, 28, was arrested on Monday from Seelampur in east Delhi where he went to meet his family members.
“Jamal played a key role in the Karkardooma court shootout case and was also involved in 10 other criminal cases registered against him in central and west Delhi. A bounty of Rs 1 lakh was also declared by Delhi Police on his arrest,” Deputy Commissioner of Police Ajit Kumar Singla said.
The officer said Jamal’s father and three brothers were also involved in several criminal cases.
Delhi Police head constable Ram Kumar was killed when four gangsters — all later identified as juveniles — sneaked into Karkardooma court in east Delhi and fired at a member of a rival gang on December 23, 2015, leaving him injured.
The minors were later apprehended in connection with the shootout case.
