Breaking silence, SP leader writes to Akhilesh to intervene in Najeeb case

Lucknow : Ask any Muslim leader of ruling Samajwadi Party in Uttar Pradesh and he will tell that most disturbing fact these days for him is the ongoing power squabble in SP.

SP leader writes to Akhilesh to intervene in Najeeb case

Sadly for him the disappearance of JNU student Najeeb for past 25 days and his mother’s battle on the roads of Delhi to trace his son does not come in priority.

Perhaps for this, CM Akhilesh Yadav too has maintained stoic silence over the issue. Amidst his busy schedule he finds time meet poll managers and others but there is no mention of Najeeb. That too when Najeeb hails from Badaun, a district which is represented by Akhilesh Yadav’s cousin Dharmendra Yadav in Lok Sabha.

A lone voice has emerged from the rank and files of SP which is of Shahzad Alam Barni, the state secretary of SP’s youth wing Samajwadi Yuvjan Sabha. Barni is also former president of AMU Students Union. In a letter to Akhilesh on Monday, Barni has requested him to be part of struggle for tracing Najeeb and support the battle of Najeeb’s mother. He has also mentioned that since Najeeb hailed from Uttar Pradesh’s district Badaun, Akhilesh should intervene in the matter.

Will Barni’s letter wake up the SP from it slumber which is now relaxing after its silver jubilee celebrations. It is also a reminder for other Muslim faces of SP to atleast raise the issue with their leaders.
