In a major development, the Samajwadi Party president Mulayam Singh Yadav has revoked the expulsion of his cousin Ramgopal Yadav from the party. In a letter issued on Thursday, Mulayam stated that Ramgopal will continue as leader of SP in Rajya Sabha along with SP’s national general secretary, spokesperson and member of Central Parliamentary Board.

Ramgopal Yadav was expelled in October from the party for writing an open letter targeting SP’s state president Shivpal Yadav. His son Akshay Yadav who is also MP from Ferozabad had alleged Shivpal of being hand in glove with the BJP. On November 14, Ramgopal in a choked voice reiterated that Mulayam is being misled.

The development again has started family drama in SP and Shivpal is visiting the CM’s residence, 5-Kalidas Marg, to meet him. It is likely that he too will be re-inducted in ministry.

Ramgopal’s expulsion was to be revoked as SP chief Mulayam has given indication when he did not remove him from the post of leader in Rajya Sabha. Yesterday Ramgopal was present and spoke as leader of SP in Rajya Sabha.

This move also indicates that it is just a matter of time before all youth leaders and Akhilesh loyalists, who were expelled from party by Shivpal, will be soon re-inducted in the party.

However, the developments have given a big jolt to Shivpal camp who felt dejected as now they are left dry with Shivpal and his close aides being sacked from the ministry.

Meanwhile aspirants for ticket in the party have intensified their lobbying. With Ramgopal back, there will be further changes in candidates with Shivpal loyalists likely to be removed.
