New Delhi : The BJP on Friday took out a “Sankalp March” in support of the central government’s decision to demonetise Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 currency notes to curb “black money and corruption”.
Hundreds of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers and citizen organisations took part in the Sankalp March from Balmiki Mandir situated on Mandir Marg in central Delhi to the Sardar Patel statue near Parliament Street.
“We held a Sankalp March in support of the action against black money by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government and his efforts for the ‘Nav Nirman’ (reconstruction) of the nation,” Delhi BJP chief Satish Upadhyay told IANS.
He said that Minister of State for Finance Arjun Ram Meghwal administered an oath to thousands of party workers and the citizens organisations members to support the government’s decision against black money.
The government had on November 8 announced demonetisation the Rs 500 and Rs 1000 currency notes to curb black money and corruption.
