Thiruvananthapuram: A week after the Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan said that his government will not let RSS Shakhas function in temples, the Hindu right-wing outfit has announced that it will establish an exclusive wing for Muslims in the state, in line with similar wings in North India.

According to a report by The New Indian Express, the new outfit named Rashtriya Muslim Manch (RMM) will function in tandem with the state unit of RSS. Quoting the state leadership, the report says that RSS, through the new outfit, is looking to establish strong relationship with the Muslim community in Kerala.

The move is aimed at countering the negative image of sangh fold deep rooted in Muslim community and smashing the prevalent hold of Left Democratic Front (LDF) and United Democratic Front (UDF).
RSS functionaries claim support from the community. ” A discussion has been held. The meeting was attended by even Muslim women,” RSS Prantha Karyavahak P Gopalankutty Master said.

The plan is to form units in all 14 districts of the state after once the state unit of RMM is established. RMM will make use of the Muslim scholars to sensitise Muslim youth against the terrorist outfits. Besides, awareness programmes will be also carried by the organisation among the community.
