The BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) on Thursday staged protests across Bihar against the release of former Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) MP Mohammad Shahabuddin.
“NDA leaders and workers have staged dharnas at all district headquarters across the state to protest against the release of Shahabuddin,” Bharatiya Janata Party state president Mangal Pandey said.
Pandey said that BJP and its allies will continue to raise this issue to expose the state government’s double standards on rule of law. “We will also approach President Pranab Mukherjee in this matter soon,” he said.
Senior BJP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi told the media that the NDA will stage a massive protest in Siwan on Friday against Shahabuddin’s release. Modi has demanded to Shahabuddin back to jail.
The NDA on Wednesday staged a day-long protest in Patna.
Shahabuddin was granted bail by the Patna High Court on September 10 in a case involving the murder of a witness in the killing of two brothers in Siwan.
