Jung didn’t send Delhi Health Secretary on leave, says OSD to L-G

New Delhi : The Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to Lt Governor Najeeb Jung, Ajay Chaudhary, on Thursday termed the AAP government’s allegations that the L-G sent the Delhi Health Secretary on leave as “false and unfounded”.

“The allegations that somebody (Health Secretary) was sent on leave by the L-G are false and unfounded,” Chaudhary, told Times Now news channel.

Chaudhary added that the officer (Health Secretary) had applied for leave as his wife was seriously ill and there was no reason to deny. The same officer, despite his wife’s illness, has joined again and he is working overnight to tackle the situation, Chaudhary said.

He said that challenge to tackle the vector-borne disease is big as every year, every time this crisis comes up; sometimes it is dengue some times it is chikungunya or combined.

“As far as this office (L-G office) is concerned ample efforts have been made in tandem with the Delhi government as well as the MCD. All the agencies are on the work and yesterday (Wednesday) specific instructions were given to all the concerned authorities. I think we are capable of tackling this situation,” Chaudhary said.

Chaudhary also clarified that L-G’s visit to US was planned six months ago so to say that people are on foreign visit is not right.

“Enough efforts are being made to tackle the situation. Helplines and control rooms are functioning round the clock. If people have any complaint they can approach our (L-G) office also,” Chaudhary said.
