In the ongoing Babri Masjid-Ram Janam Bhoomi controversy, Uttar Pradesh Shia Central Board’s Chairman Syed Waseem Rizvi, who has earlier submitted an affidavit in Supreme Court with a new formula to construct a new mosque at a distance from disputed site, has now claimed support from Ayatullah of Iran.
Rizvi, during a press conference in Lucknow claimed that he had sought advise from two Ayatullahs of Iran and Iraq. “I had sought advise from them and received two replies. Janab Syed Ali Fatmi in his reply has stated that efforts should be done to construct a separate mosque at separate place. Another AyatullahMaqreem Sheerazi has stated that controversy, tussle, fighting is not allowed. The matter should be settled within law and in a friendly manner,” Rizvi said.
Rizvi claimed that even Vice President of All India Muslim Personal Law Board Dr Kalbe Sadiq has favoured giving the disputed site for construction of temple.
“The Shia Waqf Board has decided that if the mosque is constructed at a distance in a Muslim area, then board will not name it after Mughal emperor Babur or his Senapati Meer Baqi,” he added.
“We want to bury this dispute and by naming them again will start controversy. Infact we will name it Masjid—e–Aman for starting a peaceful atmosphere in the country,” he said.
Rizvi also issued a three page statement in this regard targeting Muslim clerics that some clerics who are getting funding from abroad are creating animosity and contesting legal battle for a mosque which no more exists.
Rizvi also claimed that whole Shia community is ashamed of the action by Meer Baqi who had constructed the Babri Mosque by demolishing the temple. He even quoted a couplet of Tulsidas to substantiate his claim.
