Lakhs of Muslim rally in Aurangabad demanding reservation

    Aurangabad, Maharashtra: Over four lakh Muslims from far corners of the the district gathered at Aam Khas Maidan on Friday to raise their voice in favour of reservation for Muslim in education institutes and government jobs and other demands.

    All the participants assembled near the venue soon after Juma prayers. Six students addressed the crowd and put their views on need of reservation, importance of time, declined social and educational status of Muslims in India, Sachar and Rangnath Mishra commission reports and recommendations, disappearance of JNU student Najeeb and beaf ban.

    After singing the National Anthem the rally proceeded towards Divisional Commissioner carrying tricolour in their hands.

    It is remarkable that for the first time nearly ten thousand women and children of the city came out to join the silent March.

    After covering key areas the rally reached the Divisional Commissioner’s Office at around 5:30 pm. where students handed over the 14 pages memorandum to the commissioner signed by 28 prominent citizens.

    Memorandum addressing the chief minister of Maharashtra highlighted that Muslims are far away from mainstream, their educational and social status is very low. we need at least 15% reservation in all the sectors to get the opportunity to improve our conditions.

    Organising committee member Wajed Qadri informed TwoCircles.net that the rally was well disciplined. “Nearly 5 lakh people from the district attended and showed their concerned regarding their community in a fully democratic way,” he further said we got words of appreciation from Deputy Inspector of police for cooperating with the police.

    AIMIM legislature Imtiaz Jaleel spoke to Twocircles.net and said, “I really had such a wonderful experince and wave of awareness among Muslims.” He said that Its a huge success of the entire community and coming under one umbrella by ignoring differences is much more important than demanding reservation. “Now we can expect fruitful results,” he added.
