Ismail Shah, the 40-year-old victim of the case was returning home on his scooter when a few men stopped him and accused him of carrying beef. Even though Ismail pleaded that it was not beef (beef is banned in Maharashtra) but mutton and pleaded to be let go, the men assaulted him badly and left him unconscious on the street. Ismail was later taken to the hospital, where he is currently undergoing treatment.
The accused have alleged links to a little-known right-wing organisation called Prahar Sangathan.
