Maulana Mahmood Madani, General Secretary of Jamiat Ulam-i-Hind in a letter addressed to Indian Home Minister Rajnath Singh has demanded stringent action against those persons involved in demolition of under construction mosque situated in Sonia Vihar, Chauhan Patti New Delhi.
In letter to Minister Singh, Madani wrote, “The communal elements are also threatening local Muslim community of the area to evacuate their residents.” He has also demanded aqequate security arrangements for the local Muslims and rebuilding the mosque.
On June 7, a mob demolished an under construction mosque situated in Ambe Enclave of Sonia Vihar Colony of New Delhi in broad daylight.
The matter caught heat as the whole incident occurred in holy month of Ramadan. The community that surround the mosque alleged that even before Ramadan, various suspicious people used to come to the locality and watch the construction.
A delegation of Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind had visited the affected area and held several round of meetings with concerned person. In his letter, Madani drew the attention of home minister that police was reported of threats which local Muslim community received via social media on May 29, eight days before the incident. However, no action was taken by the local police in this regard.
JUH also said that due to police inaction and laxity, few anti-social elements demolished the mosque during the holy month of Ramadan. The situation remains tense in the area after five days of the incident, because police administration has not been cooperating with the members of minority community. Maulana Madani has demanded swift action in the matter.
