Kozhikode: In a bid to unite the protests against rampant atrocities against minorities and Dalits across the country, the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) will seek support from all parties. Party national general secretary P K Kunhalikutty MP will soon write to leaders of all the opposition parties seeking their support for the nation wide protests. A press release issued by the party national committee here on Wednesday said IUML will approach leaders of various parties and non BJP chief ministers such as Mamata Banerji and Aravind Kejriwal, Sonia Gandhi, M K Stalin, Akhilesh Yadav, Mulayalam Singh yadav, Mayawathi and Sitaram Yechuri. Kuhalikutty, through the press statement, said that atrocities by the cow vigilantes during the three years of BJP rule had tarnished the country’s image and made lives miserable.
He added that he would raise the issue in the next UPA meeting and in Parliament. “Incidents like the recent lynching 16 year old Junaid Khan cannot be seen as an isolated one. The government should provide compensation to the family of Junaid. Muslim league is also ready to provide legal support to the family,” Kunhalikutty said.
The party will launch a national campaign against mob lynching. IUML national political committee chairman Panakkad Syed Hyderali Shihab Thangal will inaugurate the campaign in Kozhikode on July 2. A Parliament march will mark the valediction of the campaign on July 18.
The party also infomed that under the leadership of organizing secretary E T Mohammed Basheer, IUML national leaders will visit the family of Junaid in Ballabhgarh in Haryana soon. P V Abdul Wahab M P, national secretary Khurram Anees, Sabir S Gaffar, C K Zubair and Asif Ansari will be part of the team.
