Lucknow, (IANS): The BJP took an early lead in Uttar Pradesh on Saturday as officials began counting the millions of votes cast in the staggered election.
Bharatiya Janata Party candidates led in 18 of the 32 seats where counting trends were available, followed in 10 seats by the Samajwadi Party-Congress alliance.
The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) led in four constituencies. Uttar Pradesh voted in February-March to elect a new 403-member house.
