Mayawati announces compensation for victims of Saharanpur anti-Dalit violence

BSP President Mayawati visited Saharanpur’s Shabbirpur area and announced a compensation of Rs 50,000 for families whose houses were burnt down during the anti-Dalit violence. She also announced a compensation of Rs 25,000 for families whose houses suffered minor damages.

Mayawati also met the victims and  and accused the state of sponsoring the riots in Saharanpur. She said, “BJP should stop spreading hate.”

Mayawati also told the people resisting against the violence in Saharanpur that if they wish to organise any meet or protest, they can do so under BSP’s banner. With this, no one will ever stop them, she added.

She reached Saharanpur via road as the permission for a helicopter was not granted. She released a statement mentioning that she will be visiting Saharanpur by road and if anything happens to her midway, BJP government in the state shall be held responsible.

BSP workers hailed and welcomed her at various checkpoints but she told them that it is not a moment to cherish upon. She said, “Dalits are fighting and we should get united at this time.”
