Majiziya Bhanu bags Best Lifter Award at World Cup 2018

Majiziya Bhanu has again raised the pride of the country by bagging the Best Lifter Award in the World Cup held in Moscow from 14-16 December 2018.  The Kerala girl won gold in the Open Category Powerlifting.  Team India has won several medals and the overall Gold for team points.

“Alhamdulillah.  I am feeling very happy, very proud.  I never experienced the same before.  I am experiencing a great moment.  I still can’t believe that I made it,” said an excited Bhanu to TwoCircles.net.

Bhanu has won several medals in national and international events, including silver at the Asian Powerlifting Championship in 2017.  Earlier in 2018, she was crowned Miss Kerala in the Mr Kerala Competition organized by the Bodybuilding Association of Kerala and the Sports Council of Kerala, making her the only hijab-clad woman to win the prize.  She had also participated in the 40th World Armwrestling Championship held in Turkey in October 2018 which was covered by TWoCircles.net From powerlifting to arm wrestling: Majiziya Bhanu’s story is a lesson in how to overcome life’s hurdles

Majiziya Bhanu hails from the small village of Orkkatteri in Kozhikode district in Kerala.  She entered the field of powerlifting and armwrestling quite unexpectedly in 2016, and ever since has only moved forward.  The 24-year old is a final-year student of BDS (Bachelor of Dental Science) in Mahe.
