A police official said that these children — of classes 6 to 8 — fell sick after consuming the meal served at their school in Narela area of north Delhi and were rushed to Satyawadi Raja Harish Chandra Hospital. “Early symptoms included abdominal pain, dizziness and vomiting,” he added.

The official said that a formal complaint was received from school. “We are in the process of lodging an FIR. Inquiry is on to find out of it was negligence on part of the school or the food caterer,” he said.

Though the children’s condition improved after a few hours, they are still under observation and haven’t been discharged yet, he added.

Last week, two girls were hospitalised after eating the mid-day meal served in their school, which is run by Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD). The vendor was booked after police received a complaint from the principal.
