Kolkata Imam asks people to be ready for NRC

A press conference was organised by Qari Ahmer Foundation yesterday 31st August, before the Jummah prayers at the Nakhoda Mosque, Kolkata to address the problem of spelling errors in the Identity cards of people which they neglect to rectify.

Talking at the conference Moulana Shafique Kasmi Imam of Nakhoda Mosque who was the chief guest appealed to the people of Bengal to get the errors in the spelling of their names ( if any) in their Voter Id Cards, PAN Cards, Aadhar cards, Passport and other documents of importance because after Assam the next NRC may be done in the state of West Bengal.

He also added that though he supports the NRC he said there should not be any discriminative practices in the procedure.

After the conference the Qari Ahmer Foundation organised 10 auto rickshaws with loud speaker sets to spread mass awareness on this issue. The rickshaws were taken around the city.

Also present were Qari  Fazlur Rahman, Shakil Ansari, M A Ali and others.
