Pragya Singh is among the main accused in the Malegaon blast case in 2008 which killed 6 persons and injured at least 100 persons. She is still being tried  under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) and is out on bail granted by the Mumbai High court. But the NIA special court is yet to drop charges against her in the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) for which was arrested.

Pragya Singh, 48 years old, who used to deliver strong speeches  is associated with Akhil Bhartiya Vidhyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and ‘Durga Vahini’ the women’s wing of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP).

BJP has a strong hold in Bhopal as they have been winning from here from 1989.

Her entry in politics and subsequent declaration of contesting the Lok Sabha elections has won the approval of the party members while many other politicians, social activists and common persons have criticised the entry of someone who has been accused of being a terrorist in politics.
