The violence began when stones were allegedly thrown at a Ganesh pandal. In response, a large Hindu crowd gathered at the Saiyedpura police station, demanding action against the minors. Tensions escalated when the crowd moved into Muslim areas, leading to stone-pelting between the communities. Police intervened with lathi charges and tear gas, resulting in injuries to several individuals, including police personnel.

By Monday morning, police had arrested approximately 28 individuals, including six minors aged 12 to 13, and filed several FIRs related to the riots. Authorities are reviewing CCTV footage to identify additional suspects.

Police Commissioner of Surat, Anupam Gehlo, stated that all those found involved in the unrest would be prosecuted. Heavy police forces have been deployed in the sensitive area to prevent further disturbances. Approximately 1,000 officers have been stationed to maintain peace.

Gujarat Home Minister Harsh Sanghvi also visited the site, assuring the public that strict action would be taken against all perpetrators. He highlighted the use of surveillance equipment, such as CCTV, to identify and apprehend those responsible for the violence. The situation has since been brought under control.

Meanwhile, Congress leader Aslam Cyclewal urged Sanghvi to ensure that innocent people are not wrongfully arrested. On Monday night, bulldozers were brought into the Muslim-dominated areas and demolished suspected Muslim homes.
