“When we started our operations in Gujarat in 2003, we had 22 employees. Today we have 2,000. This expansion will lead to creation of additional 5,000 jobs,” Etech vice-president of global development Jim Iyoob told reporters.

Iyoob said he was very optimistic about the company’s growth in Gujarat. “Gujarat has the potential to grow. It has the necessary infrastructure. I will train the people. All I am asking for is that they should understand English,” he said.

He, however, added that 500 more employees would be recruited for domestic BPO services for whom English is not a prerequisite.

Out of the $40 million revenue of the company, Gujarat accounted for $15 million. “In the next three years, our target is $100 million,” Iyoob said.

“We have also introduced web chat which requires only typing skill. And in web chat we are the pioneers,” he added.

Etech Inc has two offices in Gujarat, one in Gandhinagar and the other in Vadodara.
