Ranchi : The Jharkhand government has set up a committee to probe an incident in which a person died after he was allegedly denied treatment and thrown out of the campus of the Ranchi-based Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS).
Jharkhand Health Minister Bhanu Pratap Sahi said Friday: “Stern action will be taken against the officials found guilty in the incident by the three member probing committee”.
A yet unidentified injured person was lying at the institute gate Wednesday when RIMS Director N.N. Agrawal saw him and reportedly asked the attendants to throw him out of the campus. The person was then thrown out by the RIMS staff.
One leg of the injured person had been chopped off probably in an accident and he needed immediate treatment. But due to the reported callous act of the RIMS director, the injured could not be treated in time.
Nearby shopkeepers raised a hue and cry whereafter the injured person was finally admitted Wednesday night. However, he died Thursday apparently due to delayed medication.
Satyadeo, head mate of RIMS, had reportedly told the authorities that the director had told them to throw the person out of the campus. The director has, however, denied the allegation.
The health department has already issued notice to director Agrawal in the incident.
