Kolkata : Reacting China’s stand at the Nuclear Suppliers Group meeting in Vienna which gave New Delhi the waiver to have nuclear commerce, India today said “every sovereign country has its right to express its sovereign will”.
Asked to comment on China’s negative role at Vienna, External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee told reporters here on Sunday that “I don’t want to comment on what role was played by which country in the NSG.” “This is their internal matter. “Every sovereign country has its right to express its own sovereign will”, he said.
Mukherjee’s remarks came ahead of his meeting with Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi in Delhi on Monday when India is expected to convey India’s “disappointment” with Beijing’s stand at the Vienna meeting.
National Security Advisor M K Narayanan had said that the issue would be taken up with Yang and India would convey its “some kind of disappointment”.
