Prajenesh, 18, who upset fifth seed and national hard court champion Ashutosh Singh in a marathon three-setter in the first round, hustled the 16-year-old Ronak with his powerful grounds strokes to win 6-4,6-2.

Prajnesh snatched an early break in the first game of the first set and then broke Ronak again in the first and fifth games of the second set to finish the match in one hour and fifteen minutes.

The Chennai based Prajnesh, however, was not too happy with his service return.

“ I am still struggling with my return of service and will have to work on that. I have been so close to breaking serve in the first set but then I went for a couple of ambitious returns. Otherwise I could have wrapped the first set much earlier,” Prajnesh said.

In the other matches, top seed German Peter Gojowczyk had little problem putting aside Vishnu Vardhan 6-4,6-4 while second seed Japanese Yuichi Sugita outplayed Nikunj Swatch 6-3,6-3.

Fourth seed Sunil Kumar Sipaeya shrugged off a slow start to beat Tushar Liberhan 3-6, 6-4,6-4.

Pakistan’s Aqueel Khan had it easy against N. Vijay Sundar Prashanth, thrashing him 6-2, 6-4, while compatriot Yasir Khan went down to sixth seed Hsin-Han Lee 6-2,6-3.
