At least 25 people were killed and over 50 wounded when unidentified miscreants hurled hand grenades at a mosque in lower Dir district of North West Frontier Province.

The lower Dir district is bordering with Afghanistan and Bajaurtribal agency, where Pakistan’s security forces are conducting military operation against local Taliban militants.

Zardari, who took oath of office on Tuesday, termed the blast a heinous act, saying attacking the people who had gone to offer prayers at the mosque was most despicable thing and an act of those who were against Islam’s vision of peace and solidarity.

Zardari, widower of slain former prime minister Benazir Bhutto, directed the local authorities to investigate the matter and take strict action against those responsible.
