Hyderabad : Die hard fans of Harry Potter queued up outside bookstalls in Hyderabad and Vishakhapatnam since the wee hours of Saturday to buy "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows", the seventh and last book in J.K. Rowling's popular fantasy series.
Some fans were lined up outside the bookstall since 2 a.m. though the sale of the book began only at 6.30 a.m. "I had booked the copy two months ago but did not want to take any chance. I wanted to be the first person to grab the book," said Subhash Reddy, a software professional.
"The book is amazing not just for the children but for many adults and I have been eagerly waiting for it," he added.
Since only 5000 copies were available for sale in Hyderabad, Harry Potter fans vied with each other to grab their copies. "We woke up early and came here at 5 a.m. We did not want to miss it," said a beaming R. Chandrasekhar, who was accompanying his 12-year-old son to Walden, one of the leading bookstalls in Hyderabad.
"It is such an interesting book that it has inculcated a reading habit among children. I feel very happy to see children improving their communication skills because of this wonderful book," he added.
Many bookstalls in the coastal city of Visakhapatnam were decorated with cutouts of Harry Potter.
Such was the excitement among children that many of them started reading outside the bookstalls. Kirti Reddy, a Class 10 student, said: "I am really excited. I don't know what to say. I am not going to school today because I want to finish the book as early as possible. I can't wait!"
